But I lost the pen for my Graphire 4 and can’t find it. Looked everywhere, debating just chewing the $30 and buying a Bamboo Fun pen off of Wacom’s eStore if their tech support replies that it’ll work – their site seems to indicate so, but there’s a few sites on Google saying otherwise. Figure they’re the best to ask since it’s their bloody product
Other than that, my 320gb hdd is finally starting to fail after having given me 17,590+ hours of wonderful performance, so I’m looking at a 1tb replacement.
Course, now that this pen went AWOL, if I can’t swing the $29.95 I’ll end up docking my 1tb to something like a 640 (has to be at least 440gb so I can replace both my 320 and 120’s, the 120’s starting to have a predicted-fail in January). I’ll keep you posted I guess.
Been debating re-starting the old craptastic comic Offworld, although if I do I want to get away from sprites and do at least SOME of it by hand (hence the pen). Might get some use out of the multitude of drawing books I’ve used coupons on over the years; probably will still have -something- with sprites, but the major hassle with them is they don’t scale up well without looking like ass, and it’s hard to do detail when the thing has to get scaled up to 4x to be visible, which results in jagged edges.
More details later this week; for now I did find the mouse for the tablet so I might see what I can do with that, although honestly I’ll probably just use my Logitech mouse if it comes down to drawing with a mouse. At least the Logitech feels nice; the Wacom Graphire 4’s mouse feels like a slab of brick in my hand.
Theme change. Inanis Glass was fun for a while, but it’s come to my attention that it really freakin’ lags on anything that isn’t strong enough to run Vista Aero.
So I’ve saved everyone the hassle and downgraded to a theme that actually looks better in my opinion, and also doesn’t lag like a biatch.
Cheers!
So if you actually check my buddylist on the right, a friend over at GamEscape Online ran into a problem recently involving his free forum host XSOrbit deciding to not renew one of their domain names for 3 days.
This, coupled with sporadic database corruption bursts and other issues, resulted in a partnership between Livewire HQ (me!) and GEO to move the forums to somewhere more reliable.
The Forums are up and running quite well on this host, with one catch.
Recently (as in today), X10’s having a DNS issue resulting from a cPanel update. Seems cPanel has a habit of releasing stuff that makes other stuff really unstable. Corey, one of the X10 admins, is currently working on keeping NS1.x10hosting.com up, while ns2.x10hosting.com is the problem causer – if ns2 comes online, both die. He’s working on setting up ns1 on another of x10’s servers (Cirrus) until the issue gets resolved by cPanel.
So you might experience some problems loading the site over the next day or so until it gets resolved. Bear with us please!
Inanis Glass (Click Me!) updated to 1.2, presumably to fix a few rendering glitches and to bump up to 2.7 – there was a hack posted not long ago that I’ve been using to hide a footer glitch, but it broke the w3c validation of the page – 6 errors, 3 “unexpected end of data’s” and 3 “tag not closed.”
So I patched it and guess what – not only did the w3c fix itself, but the blue button in the bottom left has started working (it works in 2.6.5 but originally didn’t in 2.7, or at least not for me). Think it wants javascript, but if you don’t have it on, you’re not missing too much – it lets you change the colors on the theme. If you’ve got cookies enabled it’ll keep it for next visit as well.
For those who need this site to not use as much BW, switch to the “Light” theme; low graphics, like XP set to Windows Classic. If you don’t care, go ahead and pick a theme color!
In the mean time, I’m adjusting a few things and adding a new page set for my Launcher project, which at the moment is going at a snails pace but it -is- moving. Turns out using Google helps turn up tons of tiny bits and pieces, including how to lock objects when threading – I never actually knew how to do it, but now that I do it’ll prevent a particularly nasty crash or glitch when trying to get XNA3 to draw a games boxart when the thread is trying to change from a placeholder to the -actual- boxart after loading it.
So stay frosty and enjoy the theme now that it’s w3c valid and the start corner button works!
Removed a lot of the old SysAlive Release Candidate posts since V1’s up; I left the old PCAlive in case anyone wants it, but frankly you might as well just go SA3 since it looks prettier.
Working on a bit of cleanup as well, but at the moment there isn’t much left to clean up – one of the advantages of posting like once every eon or so
Okay, so far I’m not impressed with the layout of the backend right now, but if it actually does one-click updating like I THOUGHT the others did until I got told to do it myself, I’ll stick with it.
One plugin’s DOA so far, but since its the only one I was using I’m a bit peeved on that too.
Maybe I can get a 2.7 theme I like more than the current one though…Might just have to see what I’ve got.
EDIT: Seems I might just have to like 2.7 a bit more, this theme is friggin’ AWESOME! Now to fix the two images that are totally out of place.
So I’m still in a coding slump, mostly cause I’ve been too damn lazy to get VS2008 running on Vista, but also partly cause I’m out of ideas that don’t suck. I figure if I let some of them fester a bit I might actually find a use for them
Edit: Updated wordpress so theres no warning to update when commenting.
Good enough; PCAlive and the EmuLauncher are linked up again, they’re under Programming Bank on the left.
Honestly that’s all I’m doing for tonight; I’ll try to borrow my moms camera and take a picture of the arcade tanksticks externals and internals, just so theres another article I can post.
Hope everyone likes the new look, its a ton easier to navigate than Joomla was (for me at least)
Seems like I make a habit of this – every two or three months I decide to totally redo the site in a new system, whether it’s a crappy custom system of my own, then Joomla, and now Wordpress.
Try to bear with me if you can; none of the stuff on the other system is intact at this moment and I’m working on repairing and re-linking everything in the correct categories.
And I’m GLAD to say Offworld, that crappy sprite comic I did, will NOT be coming back. Thats one blight I’m glad to be rid of.
