ELX-4 in the works, again.

ELX standing for EmuLauncher XNA, of course.  I’m gunna restart it and avoid coding myself into a corner this time – the main issue I have right now with the other one is I can’t expand it easily, partially due to a restricted menu.

Plus it just doesn’t look cool enough.  So far the to-do list is short but ugly, although I’m cutting it back down to size and adding in all the Genre/Player-Stats/Profiles stuff in later.  Advantage is I’m adding in the Carousel Selector from the very first one I did back in Game Maker, so any new menus will be easy as hell to add :)

Oh, and videos for backgrounds, and game previews (if you take the time to make an avi for each game and stick it in the game’s info file).  And I’m doing a cross between XML and folder-style info – XML for all the theme/profile data (once that gets added), but folder-style for the game files again.  Using XML for the games was a good idea, but it’s clumsy and requires a separate app unless I wanna code a whole GUI that’s usable with a gamepad, which I don’t.

I’ll end up posting screens at some point once I get further along, and if I’m in a good mood I might see if I can’t get some form of craptastic flash AVI viewer going and put up an avi or two of what it actually looks like in action, but that’s a ways off – it needs to work first.
